The Spirit Quencher - Part 2

When you repeat something that happened, you create something that is in addition to what originally happened.

Where it was a private failure between one person and God, now it is something someone has to live down, now it is something used to label someone.
- Fornicator
- Liar
- Cheater
- Deceiver
- Gossip
- BIG MOUTH
- Attitude
- Nerd
- Fake
- Hypocrite
- Druggy
- Rat
- Tattle Tale
- Brown-noser
- Loser
- Holier-than-thou

When you label people, your words create a prison that you’re brother or sister must attempt to gain freedom from. Your retelling of an act, whether true or false, causes the deed to exist outside of itself.

It’s like a fall. If I trip and fall down and no one sees, I may be bruised and skinned, but I will heal and there is no harm done.

If I fall down while walking across the platform, there is public shame and laughter, but only in the retelling does it go beyond the room.

If this were to happen to one of you, and nobody shared it because they new you were embarrassed, it wouldn’t exist but in the minds of the witnesses, and then if it is not discussed, it would be soon forgotten.

But if it is retold and shared, the shame continues and resentment occurs.

Gossip for some is fun and interesting, but…
Proverbs 18:8 (King James Version)
The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and
they go down into the innermost parts of the
belly.

Proverbs 18:8 (New International Version)
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to a man's inmost parts.

We must realize the seriousness of the damage that gossip can cause. It is painful. It can hurt someone for years. One who is weak, can be completely destroyed by gossip.

I hope you have a blessed week! Thanks for stopping by.
