I haven't posted a blog in a while. Life has been crazy! I'm sure you all know about that. The following post are a message that I preached a while ago. It is not the whole thing; I will share more with you each week. I hope it ministers to you as it challenges you. Be Blessed!
It starts with this question: How are we most like God? What separates us from the animal kingdom? – Language.
Language and words are so strong that confusing their language is how God destroyed the unity of mankind at the tower of Babel.
Words are important in Proverbs.
Proverbs 6:16-19 (King James Version)
16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
3 out of 7 things that God hates are examples of misuse of words.
Power of words
Proverbs 18:21 (King James Version)
Death and life are in the power of the tongue:
and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Words hurt feelings
Proverbs 12:18 (Kings James Version)
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a
sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
What is the one thing that can destroy the move
of God and invade the silence that allows us to
hear the voice of God?
What is the thing that kills unity?
What is the one thing that will cause you to forget about what God did for you at Retreat or Camp?
What is the one thing that will quench the Spirit of God? It’s called GOSSIP!
